The General finally released the group I came over here with... we're free to go home. (We were calling ourselves "detainees" for the past month.) Yet there's a catch -- the plane home doesn't leave Kuwait until sometime after the 1st of March (probably after the 3rd). I thought of leaving, and waiting in Kuwait where I don't have to work and will be able to relax, but then I thought about the lack of privacy in the transient bays, the cots, the noise, the boredom... so I'm staying here until Monday, as planned. Some people here think I'm crazy, but it makes sense to me. I have my own room and a bed here, plus the friends I've worked with the past six months.

So... Monday I catch that C-130 and head to Camp Doha, Kuwait. It will be so strange leaving this place. I practically live here. However much I want to leave, it's my most recent home.

Good Job. As I said, you may not have to worry about the sand anymore.

But.... you now need a boat for your San Diego home, since your area and other areas of Cali where my family resides as well, are dealing with the huge mud slides and flooded streets.

Other then that how else would you want the home coming??? :-D

I just was out there and it was unbelievable. Anyways not to bring you bad news it is drying up, so hopefully you can get back to something dry.

P.S. Don't forget to look at your lottery tickets if you buy them. I waited almost too dang long to cash one that is not the PowerBall Best Prize but one under it. :-D

Congrads and Find Your Dream, Happiness and Take Care and Best Wishes,

Ciao

Amber,
I am so glad that you are finally coming home. I'm going to miss the Bahgdad updates, but there is always someone there that can tell me what is going on. I may not have left comments but I have read everything that you have written during your time there. Writing has always been a good outlet for you. Email me when you get home. I don't think I have a good email address for you. Mine is on the global.

Amber,
It has been more than 5 years since I have actually spoken to you. Here we go: I'm glad you are comeing back home safe and sound. Thank you for what you have done and are doing in the sandbox ane elsewhere. It is nice to see that someone from Charleston has actully gotten outta there and is doing something that matters. It seems that me and you are the only ones (that ran around my circle of friends) that is on to bigger and better things. Just get you ass home safe and giss the ground when you get here. If you have any troubles just thing of our morning jog back when we were @ good old Fort Dorchester. :) Take it easy Amber and I look forward to hearing from you.

If you're going to Kuwait, Doha isn't that bad of a place to be! Good luck and stay safe! I still have a month to go.

Ambiance,

What an interesting group of folks follow your web log. I'm surprised at the random influx of visitors. And I wonder: for every one of them that posts, how many come and go and never leave a note behind? Anyhow, I hope you are making well for yourself. I'm curious, will you ride in a helicopter on any leg of the journey? Maybe that sounds like a mundane question to someone who is in the military, but in the civilianverse I only get to ride couches, desks, and the occasional automobile (I tell ya what though, I can pull some wicked G's in a loveseat). I'm sure you'll find plenty of ways to entertain yourself in Doha (I recall you said it would be boring?). There's always conversation right?

Take care,

-Eric

Hey there,
Very random question for you. I am wondering if all the rumors and stories of the rediculous amount of, "what happens in Iraq stays in Iraq" (cheating spouses of loved ones in the US) are all true. I really need to know, any info would be greatly appreciated!
